Forwarding email

 


Students

WARNING:

Confidentiality regarding student records is protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA). All use of email, including use for sensitive or confidential information, will be consistent with FERPA.

Forwarding/Redirecting of email
If students wish to have email redirected from their official OCCC email addresses to another email address (e.g., @aol.com, @hotmail.com, or other email server), they may do so, but at their own risk. The College can no longer assure privacy and confidentiality of information (FERPA) forwarded to non College operated email services. The College will not be responsible for the handling of email by outside vendors.

Having email redirected does not absolve a student from the responsibilities associated with official communication sent to his or her official student email account.


Jane A. Doe is a student at Oklahoma City Community College. She wants to login to the email system and change her password.


The first thing to do is go to the web site (http://email.occc.edu), click on the Login to Your Email Account link, and key in her username and current password.



 

Once logged in, the user would click on the Preferences link in the lower lefthand corner of the screen.



 

After that link is selected, the user sees a screen on which they can input several items of information including a Forward To: address. After keying in the email address, clicking on the Save button changes the password. Please note that if you choose to forward emails from your college account, there will be no record in the college account of these emails.




 

The user will be returned to the main email screen.
