Students
On October
9th, new and improved web resources and services were made available.
Specifically, all students who have attended the college within the
last 18 months received a new college email account and access to the
OCCC wireless network. Additionally, access to MineOnline, the wireless
network, and your newly assigned email account are now linked together.
You only have to remember one username (ID) and password for all three
services.
To
use these new services will require a new username (ID) and password!
If you need additional information or clarification please call 682-7509.
Username (ID)
Your
username (ID) will be based upon your first name, middle initial, and
last name stored within the college's Student Information System. Let's
look at an example:
Jane
A. Doe would be given an ID of jane.a.doe. This ID would be
a combination of her first name (FN), middle initial (MI) and last
name (LN) separated by a ".". If Jane did not have a middle
initial, her user ID would be jane.doe. If you want to know
what your user ID is, click here.
Of course, there will be situations in which more than one person
will have the same first name, middle initial, and last name, but
the number of these should be minimal. When this does occur, a unique
number will be placed at the end of the original name. If there was
a second Jane A. Doe, the ID for the second Jane might be jane.a.doe02.
Password
The initial password will be set to the last 6 digits of your social
security number. You are strongly encouraged to change this password
as soon as possible. Documentation regarding this can be found by clicking
here. The only way to change your password
is through your new email account.

Wireless

The College has implemented a college-wide WI-FI network. To use this
network, users will be required to signon using their new integrated
username and password. The public WI-FI network name is OCCC.
This is the network that a user will find if they scan for a WI-FI network
on college property. Use of the WI-FI network is governed under the
"Student Acceptable use Policy for OCCC Wireless Network".
All first time users will be required to accept the terms of this agreement
before being granted access to the WI-FI network.
